Deal or No Deal

"Deal or no deal?" is the question host Howie Mandell asks contestants as a riveted audience holds its breath awaiting the answer. Twenty six long legged beauties, referred to affectionately as "the Models" each hold a briefcase containing an unknown sum of money. The contestant chooses one case as his/her own to remain unopened and then chooses one model at a time to open her briefcase, revealing the sum of money inside. The Banker periodically phones Howie and makes an offer to purchase the contestant's case prompting the famous question, "Deal or No Deal?" The contestant faces a choice to either take the deal from the Banker or continue to open briefcases. If he or she foregoes the deal and proceeds with opening more cases, the Banker's next offer may be higher, if low values are revealed. Conversely, the Banker's next offer could be lower if the big dollar signs show up. The ultimate goal of the contestant is to win the $1 million grand prize.

The hour long game show premiered in December 2005 and was an instant success. By February 2006, the NBC hit moved to Gower Studios in Hollywood, CA, and ATK Versacom was contracted as the intercom vendor. In order to interface effectively with production TV truck, a Riedel system is used. Two matrix panels are in place for the floor producers, and another is used for the satellite truck during a live shoot. The Riedel is also utilized as the 4-wire interface with two pieces of fiber; one for main and one for backup totaling 500 feet. Twenty dual channel hard line belt packs and 16 wireless belt packs accommodate the crew of Producers, Stage Managers, and Lighting and Audio technicians. Howie's phone line from the Banker is yet another line of communication provided by ATK Versacom. In later seasons, Deal or No Deal moved to Culver Studios in Culver City where a permanent control room was built and outfitted with the Riedel intercom system. ATK Versacom has the same setup as before, and continues to provide the same great communication as always.
